MARCIA GAY HARDEN

My mother is a woman of great strength. She has had a huge impact on me - as an artist, as a father, as a Christian. She embodies so many of the ideals that I try to portray in my art - trust, faith, hope, goodness. As a single mother trying to support and raise three children, she stood behind me as I set out on life, never waivering in her faith in me as an artist, as a painter.

I confess that I was a trifle anxious to see who Michael Campus might suggest for the role of Mary Anne Kinkade. What actress could really be qualified to bring my vibrant, loving mother to life on screen? Michael tells me that he often dreamt of the cast he was building - he was so consumed with finding the right actors for these roles that they filled his thoughts not only every waking moment, but in his dreams as well.

Marcia Gay Harden was our first choice for the role - when Michael told me of his plans, I knew immediately that she was perfect. Well-known for choosing complicated characters full of depth and meaning, Marcia has never shied away from fully inhabiting the characters she portrays. Her strength as an actress has been well rewarded with many awards and nominations, not the least of which is an Oscar.

She was able to bring that same strength, my mother's strength, to life in her role as Mary Anne, along with her independence and her fiery, indomitable spirit. Marcia's portrayal is a great tribute to my wonderful mother.

My daughter just told me about your new movie. I went to YouTube and found it. I can't wait to see it. I love your paintings. When I was a child my Great Aunt Ree had a painting of a cottage with a lovely garden hanging over the daybed we slept in during sleep overs during the 1950s. She and Uncle Bill owned an 80 acre farm in Pennsylvania. I have written about my fondest memories in a book that was published in 2005.

The movie trailer is wonderful. I have always loved Hallmark Hall Of Fame movies, and your movie seems to have a similar style.

Marcia Gay Harden, is such a lovely, and lively actor, she is a wise choice. Looking forward to this movie. Diane Dunwell-Hoffman

Dear Thom,

It was truely an honor and a pleasure to have the opportunity to meet you during your recent visit to Langhorn, PA (well, technically it was Trenton Mercer Airport....lol)I have been a collector of your work for several years now and I am always mesmerized by ever piece you create.

I was so moved by your movie. It makes you laugh, cry, and relate is some way all in one movie.

I would, however, like to ask you a question about your family. I read that your mom raised 3 children, why wasn't your brother/sister in the movie and where is he or she now?

Lastly, never stop or change what you do. You are truely an inspiration to many and there are great rewards waiting for you in Heaven....Merry Christmas and God Bless! -- Judy Williams
